The Londonderry High School Class of 2013 will graduate on Friday, June 14th, 7:00pm at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH.  The Concert Bands will perform during graduation.  Selections will include “The Thunder”, “The Gladiator”, “Trumpet Tune”, and of course “Pomp and Circumstance”.

All band students should eat before reporting to the school.  No concessions will be available at the arena.  Attire is white on black.

The Music Department will say good-bye and farewell to 75 graduating seniors.  Thank you, Seniors, for being part of the Music Department and best wishes on your future endeavors!

The Board said good-bye to Tina Morrill, who spent 4 years on the Board, 2 years as Treasurer-elect and 2 years as Treasurer.  Her experience and wealth of knowledge will be greatly missed.

The Board also said good-by to Secretary Fiona Moran.  Fiona took on many large projects while on the board and will also be missed.

Treasurer-elect Mary Calawa is now the Treasurer of FOM for the next 2 years.  Andy Hayes and Deb Conti each have 1 more year on the Board.

The Londonderry High School Music Department has arrived back in Londonderry after a successful 6 day trip to Orlando.

Students, staff, and chaperones left on Sunday, April 21, traveling by bus to Logan Airport, then flying JetBlue to Orlando.  All flights arrived on time.  Participants were then bussed to Disney’s Hollywood Studio.  It was a wet and rainy day, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm!  Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and many other attactions kept the Lancers busy for the day.

Monday was a Marching Band performance day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.  Students had most of the day to go on rides and enjoy the park.  The Marching Band and Color Guard were the Pre-Parade for the Main Street Electrical Parade that evening.  The band marched down Main Street USA toward Cinderella’s Castle, then over toward Frontier Land.  They looked great and performed well under the lights.

Tuesday was a sunny and warm performance day for the Jazz Ensemble, Chorus and Orchestra in Downtwon Disney.  Students had time for shopping and and lunch before and between performances.  Each group performed extremely well and were well received by the enthusiastic crowd.

After the perfomances, students traveled to EPCOT for the rest of the day.  FASTPASS was quickly obtained for Soarin’ and Test Track.  The lines in the park were very reasonable, and many students went on rides several times.

Wednesday dawned bright and sunny again for the Marching Band performance day in Universal Studios.  Breakfast was a delicious buffet at the Hard Rock Cafe.  Students had park to park passes for both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.  The parks are right next to each other, a 3 minute walk from one to the other.  It was a warm day for a parade, but the students did great!  The crowds along the parade route had high praise for our students.

Thursday was a free day for the students, again at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.  Water and sunscreen were the order of the day.  We ended the day at Cirque du Soleil in Downtown Disney and a pasta dinner back at the hotel.

Friday was our travel day.  Flight B was out first, well before sunrise, then Flight A.  Flight C was delayed in Orlando, and then was followed closely by Flight D.

Special thanks to all the staff, chaperones, and medical who worked on this trip.  This trip could not have happened without them.

The trip was terrific.  All the students and chaperones did a great job and it was a joy to represent the State of New Hampshire in the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade.

Accordingly, members of the Marching Lancers will receive a trip-packet outlining details of the 4-day event (January 19 to 22) on Wednesday, December 19th. Please be advised that this is time-sensitive information so please plan to review the material when it arrives home.

The Marching Lancers and Color Guard will return to the ice at the Verizon Wireless Arena for the Manchester Monarchs Game on Sunday December 9th.  The Band will perform The National Anthem at 2:55pm, then perform on-ice at the end of the 1st period.   Click here for discounted ticket information.

Prism DVD

There is still time to order a DVD of the Prism concert.  Orders must be received with payment by November 22, 2012.  Order forms should be given to your Music Teacher.  Please click on the Prism DVD link above.

Friends of Music is selling reduced price tickets to this game.  The $20 face value seats are available for $12 to all Lancer Music fans. Seats are in sections 203, 204, and 225.

Like a multitude of colors emanating from a crystal prism, the Prism Concert features a kaleidoscope of songs and instrumental arrangements performed in immediate succession from every possible angle.  The music is continuous and performers are set up in various positions throughout the room.  Emphasis is on popular music, jazz, and lighter concert fare with a few classical pieces added to the mix.
