Band Camp, Uniforms and Old Home Days

Band Camp is rapidly approaching and preparations are fully underway to make this year’s Camp another fantastic experience for our young performers. The following list of requests and announcements should be reviewed as soon as possible. Please know we would appreciate any assistance you can provide FOM and we thank you for your consideration.

CAMP ORIENTATION
Freshmen & Newcomers:   SUNDAY / AUG 11 – TIME: 3:00-5:00 PM
Seniors:                                       SUNDAY / AUG 11 – TIME: 6:00-7:30 PM

BAND CAMP SCHEDULE
Dates: AUGUST 12, 13, 14, 15 / Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu
Location: HS – Track Inside-field
Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM / Please arrive early, we want to begin at 8:30. There will be much traffic, please allow extra time.

LUNCH MENU Band Camp
A flyer for band camp lunch menus was distributed at the end of band practice last Thursday night.  This information will be used to establish a count for ordering lunch for Camp week.  Please return by August 8, along with a check for $15 (payable to FOM).

Note: Students also have the option to bring their own lunch. Regardless, we do expect students to remain on campus.

DONATIONS
FOM is seeking donations of cases of water; baked or store bought cookies/brownies/cupcakes; freeze pops delivered frozen (please) each morning; Gatorade powder / powdered lemonade; watermelon / oranges; 9 Oz paper cups & paper plates.

Note: Water can be dropped off any Thursday night.

PARENT VOLUNTEER MEETING
On Thursday, August 8th at 6:30 PM, there will be a Band Camp All-Parent Volunteer meeting in the Phase-6 Teachers Faculty Room. New Volunteers are welcome. This session will also include a walk-through tour in preparation for Camp week. Those interested in volunteering for Band Camp can contact Paula Smith (psmith@snhahec.org) or Missy Haas (mhaas719@yahoo.com).

BAND GROUP PHOTO – On Bleachers
The Grondin’s will again take the official Group Photo of the Marching Lancers on Thursday morning, August 15th, last day of Band Camp – in the bleachers on the Varsity Field. A flyer will be sent home soon with the students outlining photo-package options.

PREMIER FIELD-SHOW PERFORMANCE – End of Band Camp
DON’T MISS the inaugural performance of this year’s halftime Show, Les Miserables, on Thursday, August 15, at 3:30 PM – on the inside field of the Track. Come, cheer, & enjoy the preview.

FRIDAY – August 16thEvening
It’s Old Home Day weekend! FOM needs Volunteers for Concessions before the Fireworks on Friday night while the talented show-band, SOULED OUT, entertains the crowd. Volunteers are needed from approximately 4:30-9:30.  Please contact Cindy Student to volunteer (crafty9@comcast.net). It’s fun, it’s important, and it’s for the kids.

UNIFORMS
Reminder that proper care of the uniforms is an ongoing expectation throughout the year: (1) uniform must be transported in a garment bag and aired-out after each performance; (2) always wear a T-shirt with sleeves under your uniform-jacket (no sleeveless tops); (3) shoes must be kept clean (try using a Mr. Clean sponge or Clorox wipes).

Current Band and Colorguard students must try on their uniforms before Band Camp to make sure each item fits properly – (Band: Pants/Jacket/Shako; Guard: Pants/Tunic/Jacket). Refits can be scheduled with a uniform FOM during a summer rehearsal or early part of Band Camp week.

Incoming Band & Guard students should contact Mrs. Sue Rouse (srouse@londonderry.org) to schedule a uniform fitting. These can be done during Tuesday/Thursday evening rehearsals throughout the remainder of summer or early during Band Camp week.

Accessories including socks, gloves, and dry wick T-shirts are available for purchase in the FOM room during all rehearsals, Band Camp, and prior to all performances.

OLD HOME DAY PARADES – Londonderry & Allenstown
FIRST ParadeSaturday, August 17 @10:30 AM – Londonderry. Report Time: 9:00 AM.
SECOND ParadeSaturday, August 24 @10:00 AM – Allenstown. Report Time: 8:00 AM (Return approx. 12:35 PM).
